Originally from Columbus, Ohio, NFL Veteran Isaiah Johnson and his family moved to Atlanta when he was two years old.
Isaiah started playing football with his church in College Park and was soon playing the team at Kendrick Middle School and Pop Warner in Riverdale when he was 7-years-old.
Becoming more passionate about football, he continued honing his skills while playing with Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, Georgia.
He earned all-state, all-region, and all-county honors as safety in 2009 when he helped lead Sandy Creek to the state championship. Isaiah was the first student-athlete to graduate early in
Fayette County, Georgia.
Isaiah was accepted into Georgia Tech in the Spring semester and earned a starting position his freshman year. By the end of his freshman year, 2010-2011, he was ranked the number one defensive back in the nation for the freshman class. During his time at Georgia, Tech Isaiah was awarded ACC Defensive Back of the week six times and still holds the record with 283 tackles, the most earned by any Georgia Tech defensive back.
At the end of his junior year, Isaiah suffered a knee injury and was placed on reserve/redshirt. Isaiah earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a Certificate in marketing and a concentration in finance. Isaiah earned a Master's degree in Building Construction during his redshirt year in honor of his father, a master carpenter.
The Detroit Lions signed Isaiah as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He initially made the practice squad, was signed to the active roster on November 14, 2015, and finished out the year as one of the top Special Teams players.
The following season Detroit was under new management, and Isaiah was released. In 2016, the Los Angeles Rams signed him under Head Coach Jeff Fisher and later under Head Coach Sean McVay. In late 2017, Isaiah personally negotiated his practice squad contract and was awarded an active roster position. Isaiah earned the title of Defensive Captain in the Rams versus Saints 2018 Preseason game. Once again, he made the active roster, but his season was cut short due to a family emergency.
The Indianapolis Colts signed Isaiah in 2019. Soon after, Isaiah suffered another injury which placed him on Injury Reserve for the rest of the year. The COVID-19 pandemic changed the world in 2020 and ended live sports indefinitely.
During training camp, I took a moment to reflect and share my voice. This moment marks the beginning of my journey to be brave, step in front of the camera, and speak my mind.
